If Zach could tell you things he loves about life he would say this...

"I love to wake up in the morning, pick out my own clothes, and wear tons of after shave.  I love singing "I am a Child of God" in the morning before my bus comes to pick me up. I love to help my friend, Carter, at school and push his wheel chair around and be his best friend and give hin lots of love.  I love pop-tarts - strawberry ones - and beg my mom for them at least 20 times every single morning hoping she'll give in.  And she does about once a week.  I love animals - especially horses.  I love coming home from school and ringing the door bell about 15 times... and wait till my mom comes to open the door.... and then I scare her by making a big roar.  And it startles her every single time!   I love calling people poo poo baby when they bug me.  I love measuring the house with my dad's super cool measuring tape. It really bugs me when people tell me to move my glasses up.  I love chocolate a whole lot!  I love going swimming w/ my family at the rec center and showing off how cool I am when I swim!  I love my Ben Ten tennis shoes.  I love to do things all by myself.  I can roar like a monster really good! I like going to church, but I LOVE coming home from it.  I like to thank Heavenly Father for King Kong in my prayers.  Ice cream makes this world a GREAT place to live in!  There are so many things about this life that I love and I'm so glad to be in the family that I'm in.  I love my life!"
It's my birthday ... and we're gonna party all day long!

Dang! Canning is sooooooooo much work. I had no idea. I've done a little here & a little there, but this year I have so much fruit in the back yard it's come'n out of my ears! And there's this thing inside of me that always screams "Don't let it go to waste!"
So I've been canning, canning, canning! Pie fillings, jams, jellies, juice, etc. And there's still so much to do. I never grew up w/ people canning around me. So it's all new to me. No one ever told me it was so much work.

Anyway - I love taking pumpkin pics w/ my kids every fall. These are just a few...

I really love this time of year. I think it's my favorite!

I woke up this morning on my own - before anyone else too. Miracle! Anyway, I came down stairs to the morning light... house quiet... not a peep. I come into the kitchen and find (drumroll please)...batman. Sitting quietly at the kitchen table. Waiting. (for me I guess) When he saw me he smiled at me with this sweet face. And then I heard a quiet whisper.... "pop pop pop pop?" (translation = pop tart)
So I warmed up a strawberry pop tart and gave it to him. I sat next to him and just watched as he ate up every crumb. Wow! Is Zach really gonna turn 12 in a couple weeks? I guess there's no stopping time. But if there was such a thing I would freeze mornings like this one. It was a wonderful way to start my day!

For Halloween Mary wants to be a pink butterfly fairy. Jacob wants to be a spider.
Should I torture them and make them pumpkins instead? How cute are they!

Of course I won't torture them! But I had to catch a couple photo's for my own amuzement.

A is for Apple!

Apple sauce, apple pie, apple juice, apple cobblers, apple butter, apple muffins and cakes, ...
I'm so excited I can barely stand it. We've got soooo many apples this year. And homeschooling the girls makes it extra exciting because we can bake and can and juice together. Just like the prairie days - mothers and children side by side making all sorts of homemade yummies from their home grown harvest. I sware! I was born in the wrong era!

Today's chore for the twins was to go outside in the back and fill their bowls full with hand picked apples. I know. I know. They have it so bad. I'm such a mean mom! I mean - a couple of 3 year olds picking apples off a tree is just so.... so..... abusive.

Pants are on backwards, belly is hang'n out cause shirt is too small - but wants it on because Buzz is on it, and cowboy boots- cause you know they looks so good w/ shorts.... Yes this is Jacob in a nutshell. He dressed himself - can you tell?

Wow! Such hard little workers making sure those apples don't fall out of their bowls. Takes lots of concentration, you know!

MMMMmmmmmmm! The taste testing is the best part!
